Your packing list for Nazca should focus on essentials. You cannot bring large bags onto the small Cessna planes. The airport provides small lockers for your belongings, so carry only what you need for the 35-minute flight.

Do I need my passport for the Nazca Lines flight?

Yes, you must present your original physical passport at the airport check-in.

A copy or photo of your passport will not work. Security officials check your physical document before you can board the aircraft.

How much cash should I bring to the Nazca airport?

You need exactly 77 PEN (Peruvian Soles) in cash for mandatory airport and tourist taxes.

The flight cost does not cover these local fees. You pay a 30 PEN airport tax and a 47 PEN Boleto Turístico at the counter. Bring small denominations. If you visit the Mirador Metálico observation tower, bring an extra 3 to 7 PEN.

Should I take motion sickness medication?

Yes, passengers should take medication like Dramamine before flying over the lines.

The 2- to 12-passenger Cessna aircraft make sharp, steep turns. Pilots bank hard so passengers on both sides can see the figures clearly. Take the pill early enough for it to work before takeoff.

What clothes should I pack for Nazca?

Wear lightweight, breathable clothing for the desert heat, and bring a light jacket.

The region is extremely dry and hot. However, early morning flights require a light jacket. You will also need a jacket for the 7- to 8-hour bus ride from Lima, which is often heavily air-conditioned.

What else is needed for the desert climate?

Pack high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses with UV protection, and bottled water.

You will wait outside at ground sites or the aerodrome. The bright desert glare requires good sunglasses, especially when spotting ground details from the air.
